Yesterday, a good friend from high school, Chip Coffey, passed away. Many people, me included, were posting comments to him on his Facebook page, where he had shared his struggle with cancer and death. (Actually, "struggle" may not be the right word. He shared his experiences with poise and grace.) Many of us asked that he might Rest in Peace.
This morning, a Sunday, a day of rest and peace, I wonder why we have to die before we get to rest in peace. Why do we not take time to truly rest? Heavenly Father set the example for us and has asked us to honor His sabbath by resting. Your rest may not look like mine, but for Chip, and for his husband, Sean, and for Heavenly Father, may we all take time to rest today. Say a prayer. Take a nap. Read a book. Sit outside. Breathe. Mourn. Count our blessings.
Wishing you rest and peace today and always.
I must have missed his passing on FB ... didn't know or just can't remember. In our 60's but feel too young to go but am willing and ready to go anytime ! Thanks SueAn <3
This made me think of a scripture I read this morning.
In Peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
Maybe this should be read diligently when getting ready to lie down for a nap, or with or prayers before bed.
Well done. Such words touched my heart. Thank you. ❤️
I'm sorry. I hope you can find peace today.
So sorry for the loss of your friend. Sending love, hugs and prayers to you and anyone in need. - Carolyn Waite
